Whitney and Tori often see candidates miss opportunities by submitting incomplete resumes or arriving unprepared for interviews.It’s essential to provide a clear job history, up-to-date contact information, and take time to learn about the company,” Whitney advises. “It shows you’re serious—and prepared.”

Programs like Roots University and the Community Manager Mentor Program offer real training, leadership development, and the chance to grow within the organization. “Many of our employees, including some senior leaders started in different or entry-level roles,” Tori shares. “Growth isn’t just encouraged here—it’s expected and supported.”

Roots understands that great team members can come from anywhere. While some roles require specific certifications or experience, others do not. In fact, the company has hired successful team members from a variety of fields, including education, healthcare, and the military. “In several communities, previous experience isn’t required,” Whitney says. “A strong work ethic and willingness to learn can make someone a great fit—and often, those are the qualities that stand out most.” says Whitney.
