Community Manager Spotlight: Shaniqua Adams, 2024 I AM ROOTS Award Recipient

At the 2024 Community Manager Conference held in Phoenix, Arizona, Shaniqua Adams was recognized as one of eight outstanding community managers to receive the prestigious I AM ROOTS Award—an honor given to only eight of over 145 Community Managers.

This award reflects Shaniqua’s exceptional leadership, performance, and commitment to excellence. 

This award's rigorous criteria include demonstrating outstanding performance in their portfolio, achieving team goals and providing unwavering support, consistently delivering high productivity, and surpassing key metrics. Shaniqua also excelled at identifying and implementing process improvements, proposing solutions to complex challenges, and leading her team to successful project completions. Her dependability, initiative in tackling issues head-on, and willingness to volunteer for additional responsibilities and leadership roles are just a few traits that make her truly deserving of this recognition. 

Shaniqua’s leadership at Hunters Mountain has had a remarkable impact. Since joining Roots Management Group in June 2023, she and her team have dedicated themselves to transforming the community. “We saw what needed to be done and hit the ground running. Every day, we joke and say there’s nothing we can’t overcome, and we truly live by it,” Shaniqua said about her team’s accomplishments. 

Reflecting on her award, Shaniqua expressed her surprise and gratitude: "I was completely shocked when my name was called. I am confident in the manager I am, but Roots has so much talent, the award could have gone to anyone." 

When asked what she enjoys most about working at Roots, Shaniqua expressed her appreciation for the company’s residents and community engagement: "We truly have the opportunity to impact the lives of our residents positively." 

Shaniqua offered valuable advice for new community managers: "Complacency can be your downfall. You’re never too experienced, and you’ll never know it all. Keep growing and keep learning! The only way you’ll ever lose is if you quit!"
