National Maintenance Person Awareness Day (Friday, March 1st), is a time to appreciate the individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our communities safe, clean, and welcoming places to live.

At Roots Management Group, we understand the invaluable contributions of our maintenance staff, whose dedication ensures the well-being and satisfaction of our residents. We like to thank them daily!

Tony Anderson, the Divisional Maintenance Manager at Roots Management Group, emphasizes the vital role that a skilled maintenance team plays in the upkeep of mobile home communities. "Having a good maintenance staff is vital for several reasons," says Anderson. We have to have regular upkeep to maintain the safety, comfort, and functionality of residents' homes.

Anderson says a responsive maintenance team addresses issues promptly, preventing minor problems from escalating into more significant and costly repairs. From plumbing leaks to electrical problems and structural issues, their expertise ensures that residents can live in a safe and secure environment.

A well-maintained community goes beyond mere functionality; it enhances residents' quality of life. Anderson points out that a sense of pride and satisfaction arises when residents see their homes and property well-cared for. This fosters a strong sense of community and belonging, enriching the living experience.

In addition to enhancing resident satisfaction, timely maintenance plays a crucial role in upholding property values. A meticulously maintained community attracts and retains residents, contributing to its success and reputation. Anderson underscores the significance of a responsive maintenance staff in ensuring residents' safety and well-being. Addressing safety hazards and maintaining essential amenities such as sidewalks, lighting, and recreational facilities create a secure and enjoyable living environment for all.

Our Community Managers appreciate the maintenance personnel who become “family” and go above and beyond so many times. Here are just a few examples from various community managers who cherish their maintenance teams.

Brenda Decker at Riverview Crossing in Harrison, Ohio says “We have a great team! They are blessed to have these two men and greatly appreciate them for all they do!”

Denver Henderson and Jim Green do so much to make sure the community looks great and help residents feel safe and welcome in such a great community.

Kiko Fisher, an office assistant, raves about Adam, the maintenance man for both Star Valley Ranch and Skyhaven Estates. Maintenance 02

“Adam takes work orders and gets the job done, a lot of residents often have positive things to say about Adam”.

Angel Lee, the Community Manager at both Cayman Bay, Bel Aire, and Summerchase, says:

Dean's dedication to his role as a maintenance worker is genuinely remarkable and beyond words. His consistency in punctuality and always available when needed reflects his commitment to his responsibilities and the people he serves. Dean's hard work and dedication have earned him the respect of his colleagues and the admiration and affection of all the residents he interacts with. His unwavering commitment to excellence is truly inspiring, and his positive attitude and strong work ethic set a high standard for others to follow. Dean's contributions make a significant difference in the lives of those he serves, and he is undoubtedly an invaluable asset to the community. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone like Dean on our team, whose dedication and passion enrich the lives of everyone around him”. When Lee found out that Dean lost his sister, she started a GoFundMe page to help offset the costs of her funeral.

Our residents also have great things to say about Dean, see this recent review: MicrosoftTeams-image (392)

Brandie Crane, the property manager at Saginaw Villas in Michigan, has this to say about Scott Hardwick.

"Scott Hardwick, AKA Black Dragon, consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty for our residents and his colleagues. With a perpetual smile adorning his face, he sets the tone for each day as the first to arrive, diligently surveying the community and flagging any areas of concern before my arrival. No task is too daunting or trivial for Scott; he tackles them all with equal gusto and determination, never considering himself above the 'dirty work.'

However, his infectious sense of humor truly sets Scott apart. So many times, I would be having a bad day and go to check off a work order, and at the bottom, he would put humorous comments that crack me up and make my day better and easier to deal with. He always waits for me to leave at the end of the day and ensures I’m safe if I have to stay and work late.

One incident stands out—Scott was focused, working hard on a project, and despite his discomfort, came into my office one day and said, I think I need to go to the ER. I didn’t even know he wasn’t feeling well. He is such a fantastic employee. He is a leader and team player all wrapped into one, and I could not be happier with who I have leading maintenance at Saginaw Villas.”

As we celebrate National Maintenance Person Awareness Day, let us take a moment to express our gratitude to the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to uphold the integrity and functionality of our communities. Their dedication and hard work are the cornerstone of our success, and we at Roots Management Group are proud to recognize and appreciate their invaluable contributions. As Tony reminds us, a good maintenance staff plays a fundamental role in ensuring the smooth operation and overall satisfaction of residents within the community. And for this, we are grateful.
