Faisal Sundraini lives by the motto, "To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often," a quote by Winston Churchill that resonates deeply with his professional values. When asked about his favorite part of working at Roots Management Group, Faisal says, "The unique challenges we face and how effectively we as a team overcome them. We have been versatile and adaptive to changing economic conditions and culture. I feel our inner strength comes from our heartfelt cause of providing affordable housing to those in need." 

A Day in the Life of the Head of Fund Management:

Team Management:  

Faisal values involving team members and helping them succeed in their goals. Developing each other’s skill sets is a daily process that compounds over time. He spends time with the team daily, addressing any roadblocks they may face, ensuring smooth operations and continuous improvement. 

Fund Management:   

Faisal is responsible for refining and executing business plans, which includes approving current spending and overseeing cash movements across Funds, Joint Ventures, and communities. He also projects future cash flows to maximize investments and improve our communities. 

Fund Reporting:   

Timely and accurate information is crucial to investors, stakeholders, and the executive team. Faisal ensures key reporting deliverables, such as financials and tax returns, are completed quarterly. He also manages new daily requests from various departments and investors. 

 Investor Relations:   

Handling questions from key investors and building lasting relationships is a vital part of Faisal’s role. His ability to communicate effectively and transparently strengthens investor trust and confidence. 

 Supporting Roots Core Values 

Faisal’s role is integral to upholding Roots Management Group's core values, particularly the principle of rallying together. He explains: 

"Fund Management coordinates with all divisions to compile a transparent view of the underlying transactions occurring in the funds and communities. This information empowers key decision-makers to make sound decisions and brings each division closer to each other. To be effective, we rely on collaborating with each department to understand their activities, which may allow for cross-collaboration." 

Life Beyond Work 

Outside of his professional life, Faisal loves to travel across Europe and Asia, with recent trips to Taiwan, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, and the Bahamas. He cherishes his time with his wife, Chloe, and their dog, Oliver. His evening routine includes dinner with his family, a gym session, and unwinding with the latest TV show or movie. 

Hobbies and Interests 

Faisal enjoys experiencing new cultures through travel, reading, and working on personal investments. These hobbies enrich his personal life and provide him with fresh perspectives and ideas that he brings to his role at Roots Management Group. 

Overcoming Obstacles 

Reflecting on his journey at Roots, Faisal recalls an early challenge: 

"Upon arrival at Roots a year ago, we had investors concerned with our late reporting and level of accuracy. To obtain time efficiencies, we bridged our fund administrator with property accounting to enhance reconciliations and created a reporting calendar to improve ownership. For accuracy, we leveraged our experience and consulted with past colleagues to change our reporting guidance. Each key deliverable file for reporting was refined and reviewed for accuracy." 

Faisal successfully addressed these concerns through strategic adjustments and collaborative efforts, showcasing his leadership and problem-solving abilities.
