Tech, TLC, and Togetherness: A New Era of 55+ Active Living at The Lakes at Hemet West

Tech, TLC, and Togetherness: A New Era of 55+ Active Living at The Lakes at Hemet West

At The Lakes at Hemet West, thriving in your golden years means more than enjoying peaceful lakes and scenic walking trails—it means staying connected, informed, and empowered.

With the support of dedicated volunteers and community leaders like Becki Grass, HOA President and Vice President of the TLC (Tender Loving Care) Group, residents in this vibrant 55+ community are learning to tap, swipe, and sync their way to a more confident and engaged lifestyle.

Right now, the community is welcoming Tech on Wheels to the community to help residents. Tech on Wheels, a traveling program from RivCoConnect designed to help Riverside County residents improve their digital literacy. This visit’s theme? Mastering Google Calendar—teaching residents how to color-code appointments, set up reminders, and sync events with their smartphones or tablets.

“We’re giving our residents tools to be independent and engaged,” said Becki Grass. “It’s not just about knowing how to use a device—it’s about staying in control of your schedule, your relationships, and your life.” Says Grass who is always finding new programs and offers from the county to help the residents in the community.

This initiative, brought to the community through the dedicated efforts of the HOA and volunteers, is helping transform homes and lives across the neighborhood. It’s just one of many ways The Lakes is investing in the well-being, comfort, and safety of its residents.

At The Lakes at Hemet West, neighbors become friends, and every day brings a new opportunity to connect, give back, and grow together.

From hosting tech workshops and grief support groups to celebrating victories on the shuffleboard court, there’s always something meaningful happening.

The Hemet Hornets recently made headlines when blind teammate Kenny Norris took first place at the prestigious Soboba Classic. The TLC Group is a quiet force of kindness—delivering meals, offering rides, and spreading warmth with handwritten cards. The annual Cancer Walk (or golf cart drive!) brings everyone together to raise funds and spirits, while volunteer harvesters keep the community kitchen stocked with fresh citrus for all to enjoy.

When Becki and her husband bought their home in this 150 acre gated community nine years ago. What they found wasn’t just a great opportunity but—a new way of life.

“When people visit, they see how connected and cared-for we are—and they want to be part of it,” Becki said. “Together We're building something special here.”
