Kassandra Valdovinos – Transforming Communities with Grit & Heart

We are thrilled to spotlight Kassandra Valdovinos, the Community Manager at Suburban Woods in Union City, Georgia. Since being promoted to Community Manager in January, Kassandra has become a pivotal figure in her own community and in three others. Her remarkable contributions and innovative approach exemplify the passion and commitment we value at Roots Management Group. 

From Office Assistant to Community Champion 

Kassandra’s journey with Roots Management Group began as an Office Assistant before she earned her promotion to Community Manager. Her dedication and drive were evident from the start, and her recent recognition at the Community Manager Summit in August, where she received the Community Manager Appreciation Award, speaks volumes about her impact.

Tierria Hilton, Valdovinos’ Regional Manager, proudly recounts Kassondra’s incredible year, noting her success in balancing the roles of Office Assistant, Community Manager, and Maintenance Technician.

“Kassandra has been a cornerstone of Suburban Woods' success over the past year, serving as the Office Assistant while simultaneously fulfilling the roles of Community and Maintenance Technician. Her commitment is evident in her willingness to handle multiple responsibilities; she frequently managed office tasks while personally addressing maintenance issues such as turning units and fixing leaks”. “Kassandra’s commitment extends far beyond daily operations” Hilton adds that Kassandra has seamlessly integrated hands-on maintenance with community engagement, proving her dedication to Suburban Woods.  

Kassandra’s resourcefulness shines through her ability to forge strong connections with local government officials, law enforcement, and community organizations. She has become a vital liaison, helping residents find and apply for grant opportunities and securing essential support for homeowners. One of her standout achievements is finding and organizing a summer lunch program. Now, throughout the summer break local ministries provide free lunches to all the children in the neighborhood five days a week. This initiative ensures that the community’s youngest members are well-fed and supported during the summer months. Additionally, Kassandra has orchestrated and received back-to-school backpack drives with supplies donated to provide students with essential supplies, and setting them up for success. 

During the holiday season, Kassondra organizes special celebrations for up to ten families, ensuring that they experience joy and warmth. From Thanksgiving meal distributions to Christmas giving trees, her efforts bring the community together and create lasting memories. 

Enhancing Community Safety and Well-Being  

When Kassondra first took charge at Suburban Woods, she faced significant challenges, including vandalism and safety concerns. Her proactive collaboration with local law enforcement has been instrumental in addressing these issues, creating a safer and more welcoming environment for residents. By working closely with police and fire departments, she has helped transform the community’s atmosphere and build stronger relationships between residents and local authorities. “It’s a completely different place now, the violence and vandalism has stopped and we are able to focus on being a tight community” says Kassondra who lives in the community with her four children ages 5-10 years old.  

The community looks a lot better too. Kassondra helped many residents secure grants to fund essential projects such as new skirting, roofing, and siding, significantly enhancing the appearance and safety of the community. 

Kassondra’s impact on Suburban Woods is an example of her exceptional leadership, compassion, and innovative thinking. Her ability to manage multiple responsibilities, from coordinating community events to handling maintenance tasks, highlights her skills and commitment. 

Her work with local ministries and city officials highlights her dedication to creating a thriving community. Kassondra’s initiatives not only address immediate needs but also foster long-term improvements, ensuring that Suburban Woods remains a vibrant and supportive environment for all residents.
