Sept 4 - 01

Three days of learning, collaboration, and celebration, with a special focus on appreciating the people who help our communities thrive.

Each year, Roots Management Group brings employees together for an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, connect with colleagues from across the country and focus on what makes our company stronger: our people.

This year, Roots employees gathered in Mesa, Arizona, for our annual company-wide Summit — three days dedicated to learning, collaboration, professional growth and, perhaps most importantly, appreciation.

While our communities never close, the Summit gives our corporate teams and community leaders an opportunity to come together in person. Many of our Maintenance Technicians and Office Assistants continue serving residents in our communities throughout the event, joining sessions virtually when they can. Their presence may be on a screen rather than in the room, but their contributions are never overlooked.

In fact, this year's Community Impact Project was designed specifically with them in mind.

Showing Appreciation for the People Behind the Scenes

Main Banner - Sept 4

Our Maintenance Technicians are an essential part of the Roots team. They are the people residents count on when something needs to be repaired, improved or simply taken care of. They work in the heat and cold, solve problems, respond to emergencies, and help make sure our communities remain safe, clean, beautiful, and welcoming.

So, this year, Summit attendees came together to create something special for them: care packages filled with useful items designed to make their workdays a little more comfortable.

The bags included Roots hats, reflective vests and plenty of hydration supplies — practical items that technicians can use while doing what they do best: getting the job done.

But the real message behind the bags was simple:

We see you. We appreciate you. And we couldn't do what we do without you.

Community Managers brought the completed care packages home to their communities, where they could personally deliver them to their Maintenance Technicians.

Sept 4 - 02

For Community Manager Jacqueline Nabors, the experience was especially meaningful when she saw technician Cortez open his bag.

Jacqueline has known of Cortez's work for several years and has had the opportunity to manage him since June 2026. She says he is more than deserving recognition.

“I have personally known Cortez’s workmanship for the past four years, although I have only had the pleasure of being his manager since June 2026. I can confidently say that Cortez is extremely knowledgeable, dedicated, and takes great pride in his work.”

Jacqueline says Cortez consistently goes above and beyond for residents, particularly the elderly residents in his community, while taking pride in maintaining a community that residents are proud to call home.

“He goes above and beyond to look after the elderly residents in our community and consistently works hard to keep the community clean, beautiful, and welcoming,” she shared.

And his commitment doesn't stop at his own community.

Cortez is always willing to lend a hand to sister communities when help is needed — something Jacqueline says demonstrates the kind of teamwork and positive attitude that makes him such a valuable member of the Roots family.

“His positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others make him a true asset to our team. It is an absolute pleasure to have Cortez as an employee, and we are fortunate to have someone so dependable and caring as part of our team.”

A Little Appreciation Goes a Long Way

The care packages weren't just appreciated by Cortez. Community Manager Chandler Routh said her technicians were excited when they received their bags.

“They were all pumped when we received our swag bags!!!!” Chandler shared.

One of her technicians even had a hard time choosing a favorite item.

“I couldn't pick which part was my favorite because I would just get more excited with each gift I pulled out, but hands down, the mini tape measure is probably my top favorite!”

It's a small moment, but it's exactly what the Community Impact Project was meant to create — an opportunity to remind our maintenance teams that the work they do matters and that the rest of the Roots team recognizes it.

Appreciation Was a Theme Throughout the Summit

The focus on appreciation didn't end with the Community Impact Project. It became a recurring theme throughout the three-day Summit.

Roots rolled out a new employee appreciation program, giving employees another way to recognize the contributions of the people they work alongside every day.

The Summit also culminated in a red-carpet awards dinner, complete with live music, where Roots celebrated hardworking employees from both the field and corporate teams.

It was an opportunity to recognize achievements, celebrate milestones, and shine a spotlight on the people who make Roots what it is.

Because while systems, processes and technology are important to running a successful company, it's people who ultimately make the difference.

Learning. Collaboration. Growing.

Of course, the Summit was more than appreciation.

It was also a chance for Roots employees to learn from one another, share ideas and collaborate across departments and communities. Bringing people together from different regions and roles creates opportunities to exchange best practices, tackle challenges together, and discover new ways to better serve our residents and support one another.

That's what makes the annual Summit so valuable.

We don't simply come together to talk about the work we do.

We come together to become better at it.

And even though many of our Maintenance Technicians and Office Assistants couldn't physically be in Mesa because their communities needed them, they remained very much a part of the experience.

Their care packages were one small way to bring the Summit back home to them.

Taking the Summit Home

When Community Managers returned to their communities with bags filled with hats, reflective vests, tape measures and hydration supplies, they carried something else with them, too: a message of appreciation.

The people who keep our communities looking great and working smoothly deserve to know that their work doesn't go unnoticed.

At Roots Management Group, we believe in Transforming Housing and Enriching Lives and that starts with the people who show up every day to make a difference for our residents and for one another.

The annual Summit may happen over three days in Mesa, but its impact travels much farther.

It goes back to our communities.

It goes to our residents.

And it goes to the hardworking employees who keep Roots moving forward every day.
