We are thrilled to recap the success and excitement surrounding this year’s Roots Management Group Community Manager Summit, which took place at the stunning Wild Horse Pass Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. The summit serves as a reminder of our commitment to empowering our Community Managers (CMs) as exemplary business owners, enhancing the quality of life in our communities, and driving innovation in the manufactured housing industry.

With over 220 Community and Regional Managers in attendance, this year’s summit theme, “Make It Happen,” rang true throughout the three-day event.

“EVERY single moment of the summit (minus karaoke) was dedicated to our commitment to ROOTS and being the best community managers we can be and to delivering our best results for our communities, as well as ROOTS” says Lyle Goldberg, Community Manager at Chandler Meadows. Goldberg adds that he enjoyed the seminar by Clayton Homes and learning more about the CRM management tools and software we incorporate to help our community managers daily.

At the core of our summit was a deep focus on providing our Community Managers with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to excel. We believe that investing in their growth directly translates to better-run communities, greater resident satisfaction, and stronger returns for our investors.

Throughout the summit, our valued partners delivered a series of informative presentations covering critical topics. Breakout sessions explored new initiatives, detailed move-in and move-out procedures, and introduced innovative software and tools designed to simplify the work of our CMs. Vendors also had the chance to highlight exciting new products on the horizon, giving attendees a glimpse of the future of the industry.

Comprehensive Training

Our CMs engaged in in-depth training sessions, learning best practices in managing standard operating procedures and tackling various community challenges. From understanding dashboards and reporting to navigating complex processes like delinquencies and evictions, every session provided our CMs with actionable takeaways to enhance their roles. “I gained valuable insights on the importance of quarterly inspections” says Valerie Fisher, Community Manager at Taylors Creek.

Engagement was at the heart of the summit. Each department from our corporate office hosted creative booths that showcased how their work directly supports the success of our CMs. These "Booth Time" sessions encouraged meaningful conversations and questions, including the introduction of the new HubSpot software, which promises to streamline daily tasks and improve efficiency across our communities. Special thank you to our gold sponsors Triad, Champion Homes, Newbook, Rent Manager, Clayton Homes, Cavco, Purchasing Platform, Hardknox Rocks & Excavating for having an interactive booth in our expo.

Our CMs left the summit feeling recognized and appreciated. They received new branded attire and a variety of promotional items. Their energy was contagious as they embraced learning opportunities and formed lasting connections with peers and partners.

Of course, as Lyle mentioned earlier, it wasn’t all work and no play! A lively happy hour, sponsored by Clayton Homes, allowed CMs to unwind, share ideas, and have fun with a spirited karaoke session, further fostering a sense of community and camaraderie.

Celebrating Excellence

One of the most inspiring moments of the summit was our leadership panel and an empowering keynote speech by guest speaker Victoria Cramer. These moments of reflection and inspiration set the tone for the future of our industry. “Her insights reminded me of some important lessons about myself I had overlooked in the past seven months” adds Fisher.

The summit concluded with a heartfelt awards ceremony celebrating the remarkable achievements of our Community Managers. Awards were given for outstanding community development projects, large-scale cleanup initiatives, and exceptional occupancy and retention gains. These accolades celebrated success stories and ignited the passion to achieve even greater milestones in the year ahead.

As our Community Managers return to their respective communities, they do so with renewed energy, ready to "Make It Happen." The exchange of innovative ideas, strategic insights, and hands-on training at this summit will undoubtedly lead to transformative changes in our communities and across the industry.

At Roots Management Group, we are proud of the growth, collaboration, and excitement that the 2024 Community Manager Summit generated. The future looks bright as we continue to foster excellence, innovation, and a shared sense of community.

Thank you for your continued trust and support in Roots Management Group. Here’s to an exciting year ahead!
