Rooted in Success: Tomeka Brinson’s Path from Office Assistant to Community Manager

At Roots Management Group, we believe in growing from within, because when you invest in people, they invest back into the communities they serve. Few stories reflect that belief better than the journey of Tomeka Renee Leaks Brinson, whose career has taken off in just two short years with Roots.

Tomeka began her Roots Management Group career as an Office Assistant at Tara MHP in Georgia.

What started as an administrative role quickly became an opportunity to learn every part of community operations, from resident relations to leasing and sales. When Roots expanded its Establish Your Roots (EYR) homeownership program to include commissions for office assistants who help residents become homeowners, Tomeka stepped up.

And she didn’t just try it, she soared.

Turning Relationships into Homeownership

Through her daily interactions with residents, Tomeka built trust long before she ever talked about selling a home. One of those residents was Gloria Ologbosere, who had been in the prospecting phase and knew exactly who she wanted to work with when a home became available.

“As soon as it was available, Gloria only wanted to work with me,” Tomeka shared.

With her dealer’s license in hand, Tomeka guided Gloria through the EYR process, helping her transition from renter to homeowner. That sale became Tomeka’s first successful EYR closing, proving that relationships and consistency truly matter.

“I now feel like I have a chance to turn a resident renter into a homeowner,” she said. “That’s powerful.”

Going Above and Beyond, Even in a Winter Storm

Tomeka’s dedication didn’t stop with one sale.

During a winter storm that brought snow and ice to Georgia, Tomeka closed another home sale, this time a cash purchase with a buyer traveling from New York. Despite extreme weather and travel challenges that required the buyer to take both a train and a bus, Tomeka welcomed her with open arms, completed the tour, and finalized the paperwork.

She also helped the buyer secure a $5,000 discount through Roots’ Tax Match Promotion, making the purchase even more impactful.

This moment wasn’t just a transaction; it reflected Tomeka’s background in hospitality and customer service, where making people feel comfortable and supported was always her priority.

“When I take a liking to you and we have a relationship, I want to make you comfortable,” she said.

On February 1st, Tomeka officially stepped into her new role as Community Manager over the Jonesboro and Clayton communities. With a brand-new office and a fresh start, she’s excited to build something special from the ground up.

“We’re getting new internet, a new office, and I’m not coming behind anyone, I get to create everything in the community I’m serving,” Tomeka shared. “My prize accomplishment will be working on the community events and fun things for the residents and making the community stronger.”

Her plans include improving parking, strengthening communication, and creating opportunities for residents to come together and feel proud of where they live.

Rooted in Opportunity

Tomeka’s story is exactly why Roots Management Group believes in hiring from within and opening doors for career growth. From office assistant to sales success to community manager, she embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and serve.

She also credits Roots Management Group by giving her something she didn’t always have before, work-life balance.

“In my old career, it was always stressful to ask for holidays off,” she said. “Now I don’t have to worry about that. Roots Management Group has given me the opportunity, and I love it.” I love this company and what I’m doing now is wonderful.

Building Futures, One Home at a Time

The Establish Your Roots program was created to give residents a path to homeownership and Tomeka is helping make that vision real. Her first EYR sale to Gloria Ologbosere marked the beginning of a new chapter not only for Gloria, but for Tomeka herself.

Her success reflects more than strong sales execution; it reflects the humanity, care, and dedication that define Roots Management Group.

We are proud of Tomeka’s journey and excited to see the impact she will continue to make in Jonesboro, Clayton, and beyond.

Because at Roots, we don’t just build communities; we grow people.
