As the year comes to a close, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the milestones we’ve achieved together at Roots Management Group. This year has been a testament to our mission: Rooted in positive transformation, we’re bettering the lives of our residents, community managers, and employees as we increase the availability of best-in-class housing options that everyday people can afford.
Celebrating Our Achievements
This year, we’ve focused on making meaningful changes, guided by our core values. From improving housing options to supporting our community managers and employees, our work has touched countless lives. Whether through property enhancements, fostering a supportive workplace culture, or ensuring financial success, every step has been a reflection of our commitment to doing good business while making a difference.
At times, our work has been challenging. Yet, through teamwork and mutual support, we’ve not only overcome obstacles but also thrived. This spirit of collaboration and determination continues to define who we are and what we do.
Corey Wikstrom, who joined Roots Management Group as Executive Vice President of Operations and ended the year as Chief Operating Officer, played a significant role in driving innovation and success. Corey’s leadership brought tangible improvements in technology and systems for community managers, contributing to record-breaking results.
“2024 was a really tough year in terms of changes, but we ended it very strong in the 4th quarter in sales and increasing occupancy rates across the portfolio,” Corey shared.
One of Corey’s standout initiatives was the implementation of Power Hour, a dedicated hour where community managers paused their routine tasks to reach out to prospective residents and connect with the community.
“We are able to make contact with prospective residents, and in turn, saw our occupancy numbers increase, which not only exceeded records but allowed us to finish the year strong, with the most sales in one month,” Corey explained.
Corey also introduced text messaging capabilities, enabling community managers to efficiently communicate with both prospective and current residents. This improvement not only streamlined operations but also enhanced resident satisfaction.
One of our key goals for 2025 is to further strengthen theprogram, which supports residents in good rental standing to transition into homeownership through down payment assistance. "We’re excited to offer innovative solutions that help our residents achieve the dream of homeownership and are eager to increase home sales in the coming year," shared Corey Wikstrom, COO of Roots Management Group.
Gathering to Prepare for 2025
In mid-December, All of the Roots Regional Managers came together in Phoenix for a two-day meeting to roll out new initiatives for the coming year. The meeting was met with enthusiasm and received perfect feedback from attendees.
“We put out a survey after and received a 10 out of 10 from all the regional managers, so that was great feedback!” Corey noted.
During the December Town Hall Meeting, a regularly scheduled company-wide gathering to discuss important updates and initiatives, Tom Stapley, President of Roots Management Group, shared heartfelt reflections with the team:
"During this season, I’ve reflected on how I use my time both professionally and personally. I’m completely convinced that what we do here really can and does make a difference in the lives of our residents, managers, and employees. Life is precious, the world is small, and our relationships and how we treat people is everything."
Tom emphasized that our mission and core values are not just words—they guide every action we take.
"We have a unique opportunity to do good business with our partners and make a difference in the lives of our employees, residents, and community managers. While our work can be hard and heavy at times, how we interact and support each other makes all the difference in the world."
As we prepare for the year ahead, our focus remains on growth, excellence, and community:
Tom’s closing words remind us to carry gratitude and kindness into all aspects of our lives:
"This is the season of thanksgiving, giving, and gratitude. Take a moment to let those you work with know your appreciation for them. Let your family know you love them—and do this often."
Closing Out 2024 with Gratitude
To everyone who has been part of this journey—our residents, community managers, employees, and partners—thank you for an incredible year. Together, we are rooted in positive transformation, and we’re excited for the opportunities the future holds.
Here’s to another year of making a difference, together!
