Roots Management Group, a leader in residential manufactured community management, is helping families rebuild and giving them a second chance thanks to a partnership with Clayton® and Family Promise® that has brought a fresh start for a deserving family at the Glen at Clover community in Clover, South Carolina.

Through a collaborative effort focused on making quality housing accessible, Clayton has donated a modern, energy-efficient manufactured home from its Tempo collection to Family Promise of York County. This home will serve as transitional housing, offering stability and support to families on the path from shelter to permanent housing.

The Clayton Tempo home, situated within Roots Management Group’s Glen at Clover community, reflects the company’s dedication to creating inclusive and thriving neighborhoods. With 1,140 square feet, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms, the Tempo home is thoughtfully designed to meet the evolving needs of families. Built to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home™ specifications, this eBuilt® home includes energy-efficient features like a Rheem® hybrid water heater, low-E windows, ENERGY STAR® certified appliances, and an ecobee® smart thermostat, which will significantly reduce energy costs for the residents.

"A transitional home provides a safe place for families in our community who are working hard to overcome homelessness," said Leslie Starnes, Executive Director of Family Promise® of York County. "This home will not only support the current family in their journey but will also serve as a vital resource for many others in need for years to come. Together with Clayton, we are making a lasting impact and offering hope to those at risk in our community." The home is fully furnished, and is move in ready.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a family to feel the strength of community and inclusion. "To be able to offer space for kids to go out and play, and a great welcoming community for this family to thrive in is a great opportunity for us to really make a difference for a family.” says Tom Stapley, President of Roots Management Group.

Roots Management Group’s Glen at Clover community is known for fostering a strong sense of belonging and support among its residents. KJ Johns, the Community Manager at Glen at Clover hosts a back to school drive where local businesses donate brand new backpacks and school supplies and Johns collected gently used clothing and shoes and offered everything in a "mini" store like fashion where kids could come and pick out things that they like "We have offered the back to school drive two years in a row, the kids have really grown on me" says KJ who has a small snack station set up in her office to offer the kids as they stop in to say hi, and naturally, grab a snack. Johns says the community has around 30-40 kids so a lot of fun and excitement in this vibrant community.

This partnership aligns with the shared mission of Clayton, Family Promise, and Roots Management Group to combat housing insecurity and build stable environments where families can thrive.

"Our area needs more attainable housing options, and the lack of inventory is making it tough for families in South Carolina," said Chris Deshazer, General Manager at Clayton Homes of Rock Hill. "Working on a project with Family Promise is very rewarding because we know they will use this donation to support local families for years to come."

The home at Glen at Clover represents the third donation Clayton has made to Family Promise® affiliates in South Carolina and 17th overall since launching A Future Begins at Home, a program created in 2019 to address family homelessness prevention and stabilization. Through grants and home donations, this program has served over 26,000 families across the United States.

The ribbon-cutting event that was held in October welcomed the new family to the community and highlighted this partnership. Everyone learned more about how families overcome homelessness and other issues by providing them with support, education and ultimately a second chance. Family Promise®, selects the family and works on integrating them into the community. Family Promise is a not for profit organization dedicated to helping families regain stability.

By partnering with organizations like Clayton and Family Promise, Roots Management Group continues to reinforce its role as more than just a community provider for residents; they are builders of communities that empower individuals and families on their path to success.
