Helping Kids Go Back to School in Style: How Roots Management Group's Community Managers Are Making a Difference

As the new school year approaches, kids everywhere are getting ready to hit the books and reunite with friends. But for some families, preparing for the new school year can be a financial strain. That's where the compassionate Community Managers at Roots Management Group step in, going above and beyond to ensure the kids in their communities start the year on the right foot and in style.

Glen at Clover: Heartfelt Initiative

In the community Glen at Clover in South Carolina, Community Manager KJ Johns has made a remarkable impact with her first back-to-school drive. "I've been at the community for roughly two years, and the kids here have grown on me," KJ says. "They would come into the office wanting snacks and such, so I set up a small snack station for them. I'm aware of a lot of my residents' finances, so I thought the back-to-school giveaway would be greatly appreciated."

KJ's initiative has truly been a labor of love. With about 30 to 40 kids in the community, KJ took it upon herself to donate all the items for the drive. "My kids are shoe fanatics, so we had a lot to give away," she shares. The drive featured a mix of brand-new and gently used shoes and clothing, along with school supplies. A supportive resident who works in the local school system even donated tables for the event.

Oakwood Village: Successful Backpack Drive

Meanwhile, in Oakwood Village, in Tomah, Wisconsin Community Manager Dani Currin organized a successful backpack drive. "This was the first year we did a backpack drive," Dani explains. "We were able to put together and give out 40 backpacks to kids in the community."

With about 50 kids in the community, not all parents signed up for the drive, but Dani's efforts were still met with enthusiasm. Donations came from vendors, contractors, tenants, and even Dani's family members, ensuring that each backpack was filled with new supplies. "I started the drive this year because I had quite a few parents pay rent late last year, stating that school supplies took priority over rent payments," Dani notes. "I figured if I could help with supplies, it might lessen the financial burden on them." Dani's kids also joined in on the effort, helping to pack the backpacks on a Saturday, demonstrating the power of family involvement in community service.

Making a Lasting Impact

Both KJ Johns and Dani Currin's initiatives highlight the incredible dedication of Roots Management Group's Community Managers to the well-being of the families they serve. By organizing back-to-school drives and providing essential supplies, they are not only easing financial burdens but also fostering a sense of community and support.

As these managers continue to make a difference in their communities, they inspire others to lend a hand and make the back-to-school season a joyful and stress-free time for families. The smiles on the kids' faces as they receive their new backpacks and supplies are a testament to the positive impact of these thoughtful gestures.
