For many Americans, Fourth of July week isn’t the end of summer travel—it’s just the beginning. This holiday marks the official kickoff to months of road trips, campground cookouts, and adventures under the stars.
According to the North American Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, over 44 million Americans are expected to vacation by RV this summer, a number that continues to rise year over year. RV travel offers flexibility, affordability, and the chance to connect with nature on your own terms—a combination that resonates deeply with travelers today.
“We’re seeing record demand across our RV communities this year,” says Dalton Lee, Regional Manager overseeing the RV Program at Roots Management Group. “People want the freedom to go where they want, when they want, and RVing makes that possible.”
This Fourth of July weekend alone, AAA projects a record 72.2 million travelers for the holiday week, with 61.6 million Americans driving at least 50 miles from home – the highest number ever recorded for Independence Day travel.
The Transportation Security Administration is preparing to screen over 18.5 million flyers during the July 4th holiday window, including a single-day record of 2.9 million travelers on July 6.
And it doesn’t stop there. According to RV Industry Association research, over 72 million Americans plan to take an RV trip in the next year, with summer being the peak season for these adventures. As fuel prices stabilize and remote work remains common, extended RV trips are more accessible than ever.
“For many families, RVing isn’t just a vacation—it’s a lifestyle,” adds Nicole Cowdrey, Regional Manager at Roots Management Group. “We’re proud to provide communities that support that lifestyle, with the amenities and hospitality RV travelers expect.”
