At Roots Management Group, safety is at the heart of what we do. Since 2006, we’ve been committed to creating safe, clean, and welcoming communities where families and those 55+ thrive.
Fire Safety Month is an important reminder that protecting our residents starts at home.
Fire prevention is a year-round responsibility. And in manufactured housing communities, education and preparation play a powerful role in keeping everyone safe.
As Brandie Crane, Community Manager at both Birchwood and Pasadena MHC properties owned and operated by Roots Management Group, explains why proactively being preventative is so important.
“Fire safety is important because we want all of our residents to survive if there is a fire. Properly working smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and an electrical inspection performed by a licensed electrician, for homes that are having issues, is a must for all Roots Management Group homes and in the community amenities and common areas. Conducting fire safety events with the local fire department is a good way to get residents involved and to let them know we care about their well-being.”
According to national fire data, thousands of residential fires occur each year across the U.S., with the leading causes including:
Manufactured homes are not immune to fire risk, but modern manufactured housing is built with strict federal safety standards. Homes built after the HUD Code was established are required to meet fire resistance, smoke detection, and construction safety guidelines designed to slow the spread of flames and give residents more time to respond.
Still, most fires start from everyday habits. That’s why awareness and prevention are so critical.
In any neighborhood, a fire can affect more than one household. In manufactured housing communities, homes are often closer together and can impact a lot of people in a short amount of time. This is why Roots works closely with community managers and residents to reinforce safety practices, ensure clear roadways for emergency vehicles, and promote fire-prevention education.
Fire safety is not just about structures; it’s about protecting neighbors, families, pets, and the sense of home that makes our communities special.
We believe informed residents create safer communities. That’s why our teams work to share safety information, encourage preparedness, and support local emergency responders when possible.
